About me
I graduated in Classical Philology at the University
of Rome "La Sapienza" and got my Ph.D. in Greek and Latin Philology at the
University of Genoa in 2001 with a dissertation about the computer
analysis of Greek metrics and the related theorical and technical problems. My main
interests are Greek and Latin linguistics and metrics, and as a veteran programmer
I'm working to many projects related to such and other
Classical fields. I taught informatics for humanities at the
University of Macerata, while at the University of Rome
I'm still working with my teacher in her courses of Greek literature and language
(formerly History of the Greek language).
At the same time, as an IT company I project and create software solutions and work
as a consultant for Italian companies and Universities, especially in the publishing
industry (Loescher,
Zanichelli), with particular attention to the
Classical field. All my software solutions are fit to the specific requirements of the
customers, which especially in specialized sectors may be very involved. This helped me
gaining a good experience in creating tailored software solutions to deal with digital
editions of literary and philological databases or dictionaries, conversion of legacy
literary databases or printed works, etc.
If you are curious about some of my latest works you can look at a sample
list here. As for
the Classical field, currently I'm working to many projects
held by Universities or just promoted by my own research interests: the general idea
behind most of them is the building of a very complex expert system for the Classical languages and
metrics, which I think could prove useful in many different fields. Each of the
projects I sample in this site are part of this big picture, even when they have
been created with a more specialized purpose or adapted to the requirements of other
research projects.
