This page offers a demonstration about the applicability of Greek and Latin syllabification algorithms to other languages, like Italian. Type some Italian text, choose the output format and click the button.
The syllabification algorithm used for Greek and Latin, based onto well-known general linguistics principles rather than on practical rules, can be easily applied to other languages. Here you can enter some Italian words and get their approximate phonological representation: of course, being just a quick adaptation the output will be approximate for both accent position (which cannot always be determined unless recurring to a list of forms accented on the antepenultimate and/or morphological criteria) and phonemes representation (which mainly refers to 'standard' Italian and does not take allophonic variants into account); but this is just a demo.
